Our Team

Founded by Katie Romang and Lauren Henton in the Spring of 2020, Luminary Counseling has grown from a dual clinician private practice into a group practice tailored to the female population of Springfield and throughout the State of Illinois. Now, boasting the experience and education of five uniquely gifted therapists, whose profiles can be explored below.

Lauren Henton, MSW LCSW

Hi, I’m Lauren. I enjoy working with women who seek to enhance personal insight, develop a more positive mindset, and to learn to experience relief and joy. I believe self-empowerment comes through owning and telling your story and I hope to provide my clients with a warm and welcoming space to begin this journey.

I really enjoy working with women to empower themselves, to find and grow their inner strength, and to make powerful changes in their lives. I have experience working in a variety of settings and I feel that my diverse background in Social Work helps to influence a wide range of insights to be shared with my clients.

Much of my experience has come from working with mothers in pregnancy and parenting, women who are in phases of self growth and healing, as well as with those who have experienced trauma. Practicing healing and strength based techniques with mothers during their postpartum period is something I am passionate about. I genuinely look forward to working with women to activate awareness of their highest selves and tap into utilizing their strengths to their full ability. Adjusting to life changes can be so difficult. My goal is to help you feel relief by increasing self awareness and tapping into your personal power.

I’d love to see you radiate and embrace your natural gifts. My ideal clients have a desire to become more self confident, self aware, and expressive in their relationships. It my absolute joy to connect to others and provide this emotional space for healing and empowerment.

Lauren has a Masters Degree of Social Work from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and has obtained NASW certification as an Advanced Child Youth and Family Social Worker. She has over 10 years experience in the Social Work Field; many of which were spent in the field of maternal medicine and women and children’s health care settings.

Lauren is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Methods of Mindfulness, Solution-Focused and Brief Therapeutic Interventions. She is a mother of two and a Central Illinois native.
